A Lifetime of Protection. A lot goes into installing a Fiberglass Pool. The Installer and Customer needs a quality shell that is simple to install, yet strong enough to withstand a lifetime of use.  Our Engineering process ensures our Warranty can back our product.

Our Gel Coat was specifically created for the Swimming Pool Industry. It contains special UV inhibitors to help the color last longer.  Some prefer a lower UV protection to reduce finishing costs, but we use what is best for the Customer and Installer with lower warranty calls.

We first do a long strand 100% Vinyl Ester skin coat to protect against blistering from styrene holes due to Gelcoat being porous, then switch to hand laid and hand rolled Fiberglass using a VE / ISO blend that is superior to others that use GP resin during bulk. This combination means our fiberglass is thicker and stronger than most; it’s not even a true comparison as most fiberglass manufacturers are less than 1/4″ thick fiberglass. While it is true that you don’t need a thick pool for just swimming (Vinyl Liner Pool as an example), we use these extra layers to help installers do their job easier and faster.

Woven Roving

Roving is more flexible than chopped fiberglass. It is used where a horizontal surface meets a vertical surface. This increases strength in these areas without compromising flexibility.

  • Short Strand Chop is like Particle Board
  • Long Strand Chop is like OSB Wood
  • Woven Roving is like Plywood

All three have their place, but for strength we select Woven Roving to back everything up.

Structural Honeycomb for support

We use Structural Honeycomb Mat to add support along walls. This stiffens the wall while still allowing it to be flexible enough for installers to move pool around without harming the fiberglass.  We also use it on some of the lower steps to help installers with backfill.

Why buy a Nomad Pool Shell

  1. Installation Help. If you let us know what day/time your installer is excavating, we can make sure one of our Excavation experts is available to answer any questions they have (please know how to use a sight or laser transits).
  2. Hand Laid and Hand Rolled Fiberglass using Vinyl Ester and isophthalic resin.  This costs us $400 more per pool in higher quality resin while others charge more but give less quality.
  3. Gel Coat. Some use a Gel Coat that has higher elastic properties at the expense of UV protection. They do this so they have less chips to repair during finishing. Our Gel Coat is formulated for the Pool Industry for best UV protection. Our average gelcoat layers are thicker than most for easier warranty repairs.
  4. Value. We have some of the best prices around if compare our quality to others.

While we don’t claim to be perfect, we do claim that we will delivery a quality product that have the best value.
